Problem:
Under certain conditions Mo can be very large, is this right?
Solution:
If the depth to the centroid of the tendons is the same distance (or near) as the depth to the centroid of the section, then the equation for Mo will give an unusually large value.
BS 8110 : Part 1 : 1985 Clause 4.3.8.1. gives an alternative definition for Mo and will provide a more realistic value for this condition.
